The Artist, composer, and producer, Steve Balbi, appears at Bird’s Basement, Melbourne, for the first time and for one night only, on Friday the 29th of November. Don’t miss the chance to witness the chameleon transcend his unique, celestial sensibility live, in eclectic 3-piece mode, featuring Pete Drummond (Dragon, Southern Sons) and Fenix Martinez on keys and piano.

The music of the composer, producer, and founding member of Noiseworks and Electric Hippies – Steve Balbi – mines a kaleidoscope of life at the margins. Coalescing melody, sophistication, and soul, Balbi bespeaks Bowie and Lennon, exploring the diversity, refinement, and gritty groove of Radiohead.

Balbi’s studio credits include Andrew Farris (INXS), Christine Anu, Glenn Shorrock, among others, which elucidates his artistry and diversity; also creating vocal arrangements for David Bowie’s Hours, with producer Marius de Vries (Madonna, Björk), and for the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge.

Renowned for his captivating live performances, Steve Balbi appears at Bird’s to celebrate the launch of his fourth studio album – Breakdown. Beautiful but distorted, daunting but heavenly, Balbi bends every genre with this new body of work and show.

Balbi’s debut solo LP Black Rainbow (2013) and its surreal reprise Rainbow Black (2016) provided a musical departure for the creative chameleon, before I Think I Know For Sure (2022) posited us back to the present. The new LP Breakdown (2024) is an impossibly romantic journey, enlightening and evocative yet melancholic and intoxicating.

Don’t miss the chance to witness Steve Balbi live, featuring Pete Drumond, Fenix Martinez, and very special guest.
