A Career Spanning Over Five Decades
Brown’s illustrious career has taken him to stages worldwide, with appearances on BBC World, ABC, CNN, and as a featured guest at Oprah Winfrey’s celebration for Maya Angelou. A festival favorite at events like Edinburgh and Adelaide Fringe, his performances are praised for their vibrant energy and timeless appeal.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the heart of the Black music scene during the era of King Records, Brown began wowing audiences as a child, showcasing his extraordinary dance skills by age five. By his teens, he was leading a doo-wop group and sharing the stage with legends such as James Brown, BB King, and Little Stevie Wonder.
In the early 1970s, Brown toured extensively with his band, Movin’ Soothin’ & Stone Funk Band, gaining recognition with hits such as Love Stormy Weather and Send Me Some Love. The band mesmerized audiences across Canada and the Southern U.S., including a memorable performance at Tuskegee University in Alabama, where none other than Lionel Richie & The Commodores opened the show for him! As a solo artist, Brown has shared the stage with icons like Willie Nelson, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers (his schoolmates). His single Love Stormy Weather, originally recorded in the late ’60s, has been remastered and repeatedly topped the UK and Japan Soul charts as a collector’s vinyl.
A Legacy of Artistry and Advocacy
Now in his seventies, Brown continues to amaze, having created eight musicals, recorded 15 albums, and authored three books. He has earned accolades such as "Best Blues Artist" by LA Radio, and his work extends beyond entertainment as an advocate for children, the elderly, and the homeless. Widely recognized as a health, fitness, and motivational performer, he embodies his personal philosophy: “When we find love, we believe in life’s great possibilities.”
